About This Bathroom
This Wayne primary bath was a gut-to-studs reworking of a tired three-piece bath. We pulled out the tub, and shower stall, and the old closet, then opened the floorplan to include the old make up desk area with new framing, two pocket doors — one from the bedroom, one into the walk-in closet — and a single continuous flow from the vanity wall to the shower to the closet.
The shower drove the design. We built a half-knee wall capped in the same Emerstone Borghini Gold quartz as the vanity tops, which lets light from the existing window pour through the frameless glass while still giving the shower a real wall. We framed out for recessed medicine cabinets. A niche in the plumbing wall with two levels — one for everyday products, one for taller bottles — and the floor is a small hex mosaic for grip, with large-format porcelain running horizontal on the walls. A fixed glass pane plus hinged door keeps the whole shower clean-looking from outside.
Selections on the vanity wall are restrained on purpose. Tribeca Hudson Snow White cabinetry, polished nickel Top Knobs Kara pulls, polished nickel widespread faucets with lever handles, thin-framed LED mirrored medicine cabinets recessed, and a slim polished-nickel sconce between each mirror. The Borghini Gold quartz is a white surface with soft gold veining that picks up the shower wall tones without competing with them. A tall storage cabinet flanks the double-sink run so towels and overflow can live in the bathroom instead of the hallway closet.
