Is Fedor the Right Fit for Your Project?
Remodeling your kitchen or bathroom is one of the biggest investments you’ll make in your home. Before you start calling contractors, here’s an honest look at how we work — so you can decide if it’s what you’re looking for.
Quick Answer
Fedor Fabrication is a fixed-price kitchen and bathroom remodeling company in West Chester, PA, serving Chester County, Delaware County, and the Main Line since 1989 (PA HIC #PA202519). Most of our projects fall between $25,000 and $150,000+, and the planning phase takes four to six weeks before construction begins.
We’re probably a good fit if you:
- Want a single fixed price for the entire project — materials, labor, and project management included
- Are remodeling a kitchen or bathroom in Chester County, Delaware County, or the Main Line
- Are willing to invest four to six weeks in planning before construction starts
- Value clear communication and visibility into your project schedule and budget
We’re probably not the right fit if you:
- Need additions, basement finishes, roofing, siding, decks, or whole-house renovations
- Need to start construction next week — we plan, then build
- Want to act as your own general contractor and hire trades separately
- Are looking for the lowest initial bid above all other factors
Why We Made This Page
The best remodeling projects start with a good match between homeowner and contractor. Rather than tell you we’re the perfect fit for everyone, here’s the full picture so you can decide.
What We Specialize In
We remodel kitchens and bathrooms. That’s our focus, and it’s all we do.
We don’t build additions, finish basements, or take on whole-house renovations. By keeping our focus on kitchens and bathrooms, we’ve been able to build systems, supplier relationships, and trade expertise that are specific to these projects. We’d rather be very good at two things than spread ourselves across ten.
What that looks like in practice:
We do: Complete kitchen remodels — cabinetry, countertops, tile, plumbing, electrical, design, and project management, all under one contract.
We do: Complete bathroom remodels — walk-in showers, tub conversions, tile work, vanities, fixtures, plumbing, electrical — same approach.
We do: Kitchen design services — cabinet layout, material selection, and specification, whether or not we’re doing the construction.
We don’t: Standalone plumbing, electrical, or tile work outside of a remodel project. For those, we’re happy to recommend trade partners we trust — including S.B. Electric and AA to Z Plumbing, who we work with on our own projects.
We don’t: Additions, roofing, siding, decks, windows, or basement finishes. Different skill set, different company.
If you’re not sure whether your project falls within our scope, just give us a call. We’ll tell you straight, and if it’s not something we handle, we can usually point you toward someone who does.
How We Handle Pricing
The part most people want to know first — answered straight.
We do fixed-price contracts. That means before construction starts, you’ll know your total project cost — not a range, not an allowance-based estimate that shifts later, but a real number that includes materials, labor, project management, and everything in between.
Getting to that number takes work upfront. We go through design, material selections, and a detailed scope review before we quote. That’s more involved than a contractor who walks through your kitchen and texts you a number the next day — but it’s also why our clients don’t get surprised by change orders halfway through their project.
What that means for your budget:
Most of our projects fall between $25,000 and $150,000+, depending on scope, materials, and the condition of the existing space. If your project is on the smaller side — a simple vanity swap, a cosmetic refresh, a single fixture replacement — our full design-build process may be more than you need, and you’d probably get better value working with a contractor who focuses on those projects.
If you’re not sure where your project falls, that’s normal. We’re happy to have a quick conversation and give you a realistic sense of what your project might involve — no commitment, no pressure.
A note about comparing estimates:
Our proposals tend to be more detailed than what you’ll see from other contractors. That’s intentional. We include fully specified materials (not allowances), all labor, project management, and contingency. When you compare our number against a bid that uses allowances or leaves things vague, ours may look higher on paper. In our experience, once change orders and “to be determined” line items get factored in on those other bids, the final numbers usually land in a similar range.
We’ve seen this firsthand. A client comes to us after being pressured into signing on an incomplete estimate:
- Gaps in the scope
- Vague line items
- Rock-bottom allowances for fixtures and appliances that would never cover what they actually wanted
By the time the real costs surfaced, they were already committed and had put down a deposit. That’s the kind of experience our process is designed to prevent.
If you’re evaluating multiple bids, we’ll walk through ours line by line so you can compare against the others on equal terms.
How Our Process Works
We front-load the hard work.
Before we pick up a hammer, we work through design, material selections, and a detailed scope review together. This planning phase typically takes four to six weeks — long enough to finalize the design, order materials, pull permits, and line up subcontractors. Every layout, cabinet, countertop, tile, fixture, and hardware decision is locked in before construction starts.
Why we do it this way: When everything is decided before construction begins, there are no mid-project decisions that hold up the schedule, no change orders that inflate the price, and no surprises that leave you feeling like you lost control of your own project.
This does mean we’re not the right fit if you’re looking to start construction next week. A good remodel takes planning, and we won’t skip that step. But we’ve found that the homeowners who invest time in the planning phase have a much better experience during construction — fewer delays, fewer stressful decisions, and a result that actually matches what they envisioned.
During construction:
We show up. Our in-house crews are assigned to your project. When we say we’ll be there Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 4, we’re there Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 4.
You’ll have one person to call. Your project manager is your single point of contact from pre-construction through final walkthrough. That means the person you’re talking to actually knows your project — they’re not relaying messages from someone else.
You can see what’s happening. We give you access to a live project portal (JobTread) where you can check the production schedule, your budget, invoices, messages, and daily progress. No wondering what’s going on. No calling the office to ask.
How We Communicate
We think most of the horror stories people have about remodeling come down to communication — or the lack of it. A contractor who does good work but doesn’t keep you informed will still leave you feeling anxious.
So here’s what we commit to:
We’ll tell you the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable. If your budget doesn’t match your vision, we’ll tell you — and we’ll help you figure out where to adjust. If your timeline isn’t realistic, we’ll explain why and give you a real one. If something could go wrong (and in remodeling, things can), we’d rather talk about it upfront than pretend it won’t happen.
We don’t disappear. Some contractors are great at the sales meeting and then vanish once the project starts. That’s not us. Your project manager is in regular contact throughout, and you always have visibility into the schedule and budget through your project portal.
We’re honest about what we don’t know. Every house has surprises behind the walls. When we find something unexpected — old plumbing, subfloor damage, wiring that’s not up to code — we’ll show you, explain your options, and give you a cost before we proceed. No surprises on the invoice.
Frequently Asked Questions
The questions homeowners most often ask before deciding whether Fedor Fabrication is right for their project.
What kinds of projects does Fedor Fabrication actually take on?
Complete kitchen remodels, complete bathroom remodels, and standalone kitchen design services. Every project is fixed-price and includes cabinetry, countertops, tile, plumbing, electrical, design, and project management under one contract. We do not take on additions, basement finishes, roofing, siding, decks, windows, or whole-house renovations.
How much does a kitchen or bathroom remodel cost in Chester County?
Most of our Chester County, Delaware County, and Main Line projects fall between $25,000 and $150,000+. Kitchen remodels typically run $30,000–$150,000+ and bathroom remodels typically run $25,000–$90,000+, depending on scope, materials, and the condition of the existing space. Every Fedor Fabrication project is quoted as a fixed price before construction begins — no allowances, no surprise change orders.
How long does the whole process take from first call to final walkthrough?
The planning phase — design, material selections, permits, and ordering — typically takes about four to eight weeks before construction starts. Construction itself typically runs about three to six weeks for a bathroom and three to six weeks for a kitchen — roughly two to three weeks for a cosmetic refresh up to five to six weeks or more for a full remodel with layout changes — depending on scope. Front-loading the planning is what keeps construction on schedule once we break ground.
What towns does Fedor Fabrication serve?
We work throughout Chester County (West Chester, Downingtown, Malvern, Exton, Kennett Square, Paoli, Berwyn, Devon, Chadds Ford), the Main Line (Wayne, Bryn Mawr, Ardmore, Narberth, Haverford, Villanova, Gladwyne, Wynnewood, Strafford, Chesterbrook), and Delaware County (Media, Swarthmore, Newtown Square, Glen Mills, Springfield, Garnet Valley). If you’re nearby and not sure, give us a call.
How important is it to know your total cost before construction starts?
If knowing the final number upfront gives you peace of mind, our fixed-price approach is built for that. If you’re comfortable with a general estimate and figuring things out as you go, a different contractor model might feel like a better fit.
How involved do you want to be in the planning phase?
Our process asks for your time upfront — making selections, reviewing designs, locking in decisions. Some homeowners love this. Others find it overwhelming or just want someone to handle everything. If you’re more in the second camp, we might not be the right match — though we do guide you through every step.
Are you looking to manage the project yourself?
Some homeowners prefer to hire their own plumber, their own electrician, and coordinate the schedule themselves. That can work well — but it’s not what we do. We manage the full project: our crews, our subcontractors, our schedule. If you want to be the general contractor, you don’t need us.
Is the lowest initial estimate your primary decision factor?
We respect that. Budget matters, and we never want anyone to feel judged for being careful with their money. Just know that our proposals include everything — and that what looks like the lowest bid on paper doesn’t always end up being the lowest cost at the end of the project. We’re always happy to help you understand the differences between estimates, even if you end up going with someone else.
